Job Description

The Heathman Hotel, located in Portland's cultural district, is an iconic establishment known for its cultivated atmosphere that inspires artists, creators, and innovators. Established in 1927, the hotel has long been a sanctuary for thinkers, dreamers, and doers, offering a unique blend of cultured comfort and creative inspiration. Managed by Aparium Hotels, a brand renowned for delivering lifestyle service and accommodations in distinctive cities, the Heathman stands out as a refined retreat for global citizens. Aparium Hotels was founded in 2011 with a vision to serve important yet underserved cities, focusing on preserving the unique character of each location while delivering sophisticated hospitality experiences. The brand blends the operational discipline of large hospitality companies with the personalized charm of boutique hotels, making it an industry leader in emerging markets. The Valet Attendant position at the Heathman Hotel offers an exceptional opportunity to be part of this distinguished legacy. This is an hourly, non-exempt role within a progressive, respectful work environment that values each employee’s unique skills and contributions. The Valet Attendant is much more than someone who moves vehicles — this role is integral to shaping the guest's first impression and overall experience at the hotel. Acting as the gatekeeper to the courteous, high-quality service the Heathman is known for, the valet embodies a multifaceted role combining elements of concierge, bellman, driver, and attentive host. The role requires a welcoming, polished, and energetic individual who enjoys engaging with guests and working outdoors through all seasons. Responsibilities include greeting guests warmly, handling guest vehicles with utmost care and professionalism, assisting with luggage, providing local recommendations, and maintaining an inviting and clean entrance area. The Valet Attendant must possess keen attention to detail, customer service flair, and a genuine commitment to going above and beyond to create memorable guest experiences. In addition to offering competitive pay, the Heathman Hotel provides a robust benefits package, including paid vacation, sick time, holidays, medical, dental, vision, and pet insurance options, paid volunteer time off, a culture of diversity and inclusion, discounted pet insurance through ASPCA, and 401k participation for full-time associates. The environment is dog-friendly and promotes teamwork, harmony, and professional growth. This role also involves close communication with the Guest Services team and other hotel departments to ensure seamless service delivery. Ideal candidates will have a valid driver’s license, comfort with driving various vehicles including manual transmissions, and some prior guest services experience. Physical stamina is essential, as the position demands lifting, carrying, pushing luggage carts, and being active throughout the shift. The Heathman Hotel and Aparium Hotels pride themselves on being equal opportunity employers, dedicated to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and welcoming workplace where every person can thrive and feel a deep sense of belonging.
