The role of the Parking Valet Attendant at the Ala Moana Hotel is crucial as they represent the hotel at the main entrance, creating the first and lasting impressions of hospitality through enthusiastic greetings and attentive service. This role involves managing parking requests efficiently to ensure smooth vehicle flow and accessibility around the hotel entrance at all times. The attendant is responsible for issuing claim tickets, explaining parking rates, and carefully operating guests' vehicles without making any adjustments to the existing settings. Aside from vehicle management, the attendant supports the Bellhelp team by assisting with luggage handling, ensuring guests are courteously provided with help as they arrive and depart.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Clean Drivers Abstract
- Hawaii Driver's License
- Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry packages, boxes and luggage up to 50 pounds
- Sufficient manual dexterity in one hand to load and unload luggage
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers using tact and patience
- Ability to read and write English
- Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions
- Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect emergency signs
- Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and walking
- Knowledge of local city and surrounding areas
Job Qualifications
- No prior experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent

- Sufficient manual dexterity to load and unload luggage
- Ability to deal effectively with customers requiring tact and patience
- Ability to read and write English
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit and perform essential job functions continuously
- Hearing and visual ability to detect emergency signs
- Ability to perform bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking tasks
- Knowledge to provide clear directions to local attractions and hotel services
- Considerable knowledge of city and surrounding areas
- Prior guest service or hospitality experience preferred
- Prior valet experience preferred
Job Duties
- Assist hotel customers with parking requests, issuing claim tickets and explaining parking rates and options
- Immediately take or retrieve vehicles to and from the parking garage
- Carefully operate customers' vehicles ensuring no damage
- Operate vehicles without changing existing settings such as radio stations
- Maintain driveway traffic flow to ensure entrance accessibility and space for loading and unloading
- Greet guests promptly with a friendly and sincere welcome
- Assist Doorman in opening car doors for guests
- Respond immediately to customer inquiries about hotel features, services, and assistance
- Provide clear information regarding parking and directions to hotel facilities and attractions
- Assist Bellman with guest's luggage by lifting items and placing them on baggage carts
- Answer the entrance telephone and provide accurate information
- Maintain an alert and attentive demeanor especially during busy times
- Clearly communicate guest parking procedures and costs
- Perform other duties as assigned including assisting as Bellhelp
