The role of Line Chef/Utility at Goop Kitchen located in SOMA is designed for culinary professionals who are passionate about maintaining top-notch quality in food preparation while working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. As a Utility/Line Chef, you will prepare numerous dishes including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other menu items following Goop Kitchen's established recipes and standards. Your responsibilities include cooking using different techniques and equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills, and more, ensuring that every dish meets the company's high-quality standards. This position demands mastery over recipes across all kitchen stations, adherence to proper portion sizes, cooking methods, and consistency in food presentation and garnish setup. Maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and upholding safety protocols in the kitchen is essential to safeguard both the employees and the quality of the food served. Additionally, this role involves evaluating kitchen equipment and reporting to management if repairs or replacements are needed to sustain operational efficiency.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in culinary training or experience working as a line cook, prep cook or similar role
  • Knowledge of food safety and food handling procedures

Job Duties

  • Prepare a variety of dishes ranging from meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other items using the restaurant’s established recipes
  • Prepare dishes by cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, and a variety of kitchen equipment
  • Assume responsibility for quality of products served
  • Master recipes for all kitchen stations
  • Comply consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures
  • Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
  • Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
  • Handle, store and rotate all products properly
  • Always maintain cleanliness and sanitation
  • Uphold company safety and sanitation requirements to ensure the health and safety of our employees
  • Evaluate maintenance of all kitchen equipment and notify the management if there is a need for new or replacement equipment
  • Adhere to all kitchen safety protocols and sanitation standards
  • Perform supplementary tasks as deemed necessary for the role
