The Utility Worker role at Sodexo, based at Wayne State University, offers a part-time employment opportunity with a pay rate of $16.60 per hour. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • No prior related work experience required
  • Knowledge of sanitation procedures and food safety basics
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift or move 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform physical activities including reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, or pulling
  • Availability to work varying shifts and days
  • Ability to be punctual and reliable
  • Willingness to perform assigned duties diligently

Job Duties

  • Wash dishes by hand or place them in a dishwashing machine
  • Clean and sanitize worktables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks
  • Sweep, mop, clean, and vacuum floors
  • Remove trash and garbage to designated areas
  • Clean equipment using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards
  • Re-stock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and cleaning materials
  • Assist with basic set-up and break-down tasks as directed
  • Attend work and show up for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Perform significant walking or other means of mobility
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push, or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
  • Other duties as assigned based on business necessities and client requirements
