Driven by the core values of fairness, respect, and inclusion, Sodexo fosters a diverse and supportive work environment where every employee can thrive and contribute meaningfully. The company’s dedication to sustainability, social progress, and economic development underscores its mission to create a better everyday for everyone it serves.
Currently, Sodexo is seeking a part-time Utility Worker for its operations at Texas Southern University. This role offers flexible varying shifts with open availability preferred, and compensation ranging from $7.25 to $14 per hour. Working as a Utility Worker at Sodexo is more than just a job; it is an opportunity to be part of a team that values purposeful action and strives to create a positive impact through every task performed.
The Utility Worker position plays an essential role in supporting kitchen and facility operations by maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout food production and service areas. This includes tasks such as washing dishes by hand or machine, cleaning and sanitizing worktables, floors, walls, and equipment, handling waste disposal, restocking supplies, and assisting with set-up and break-down duties as needed. The role requires physical stamina including walking or standing for extended periods, lifting weights up to 50 pounds occasionally, and the ability to bend, stoop, and push or pull equipment. Each day brings varying responsibilities depending on business needs and client requirements, making flexibility and adaptability crucial.
In joining Sodexo as a Utility Worker, employees become part of a company culture that celebrates individuality and collective success. The company encourages open communication, respect for differing viewpoints, and a workplace environment where everyone feels valued and included. This role is ideal for candidates who are eager to contribute to a team-oriented environment while delivering essential support services that maintain operational excellence and uphold sanitary standards in a dynamic food service setting.
Throughout the duration of your shift, you will be expected to perform with professionalism and a strong work ethic, demonstrating reliability by attending scheduled shifts punctually. Training and development opportunities are provided to help employees grow their skills and potentially advance within Sodexo. Additionally, a comprehensive benefits package supports employees and their families, reflecting Sodexo’s holistic approach to employee well-being. Site-specific benefits may also be available, including meal allowances, uniforms, safety equipment, and assistance with transportation or parking.
Choosing to work with Sodexo means engaging with a purpose-driven company that not only prioritizes operational success but also recognizes the importance of its people and the communities it serves. By becoming a Utility Worker at Texas Southern University, you will contribute to creating a clean, safe, and efficient environment that enhances the dining experience for students, faculty, and visitors alike. This role offers a pathway to be part of a respected global brand dedicated to making a positive difference in the everyday lives of others.
