Job Description
Sodexo is a global leader in quality of life services, committed to improving the experiences of the people and communities they serve. With a diverse portfolio that includes food services, facilities management, and integrated solutions, Sodexo works across multiple sectors including healthcare, education, corporate, and government institutions. The company operates with a strong ethos centered on respect, inclusion, and sustainability, aiming to create a positive impact not only for their clients but also for their employees and the surrounding communities.
The position available is for a Utility Worker located at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, a leading healthcare institution dedicated to providing specialized care to children. This role is full-time with a consistent pay rate of $16.00 per hour. It offers a dynamic work schedule with morning, afternoon, evening shifts, and occasional weekend or holiday duties, ensuring flexibility and variety in the working hours. Employees in this role will be essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment which is critical in a healthcare food service setting.
As a Utility Worker at Sodexo, your primary responsibility is to support kitchen and facility operations by ensuring that all aspects of cleanliness and sanitation are met to the highest standards. This includes washing dishes by hand or using a dishwasher, cleaning and sanitizing work areas such as tables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks, as well as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors. The role also involves removing trash properly, cleaning equipment with appropriate chemicals to maintain sanitation, and restocking essential supplies like soap, paper towels, and cleaning products.
Physical endurance and the ability to perform repetitive, physically demanding tasks are key to succeeding in this position. Utility Workers must be comfortable standing or walking for extended periods—potentially an entire shift that may last 8 hours or more—and able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds. The job requires frequent bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling, reflecting its active and hands-on nature.
Sodexo values the growth and development of its workforce. Employees in this position will benefit from access to ongoing training and career advancement opportunities to support long-term success. The company also provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401k savings plans, discount programs, and more. Site-specific offerings may include free shift meals, uniforms, safety shoes, transportation support, or parking, depending on the location.
Working at Sodexo goes beyond routine duties; it is about belonging to a company that empowers its employees to thrive while making a meaningful impact. Sodexo fosters a culture of inclusion and respect, ensuring each person is treated fairly and can be their authentic self at work. Equal employment opportunities are a fundamental part of Sodexo's commitment, embracing diversity in all forms and providing accommodations for applicants who may require assistance during the hiring process.
