Job Description
Atlantic Shores is a distinguished continuing care retirement community located in Virginia Beach, dedicated to serving adults aged 55 and above. As an award-winning community, Atlantic Shores prides itself on creating a welcoming neighborhood that fosters active lifestyles while promoting freedom, dignity, wellness, independence, and security for both its residents and staff. The community operates with core values that emphasize service to others, a culture of trust and honesty, leadership geared toward growth, and loyalty, making it a unique and nurturing place to work and live. This environment attracts passionate individuals who wish to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults, contributing to a community that feels like family and offers a sense of belonging and purpose.
The Dining Services team at Atlantic Shores is currently seeking dedicated Utility Workers to join their organized and supportive team. This role is not your typical dishwasher position; it focuses on providing quality of life through varied tasks that prevent monotony and encourage teamwork. Utility Workers play a vital role in maintaining the kitchen’s organization and cleanliness, supporting overall operational efficiency in food service. The position offers a flexible schedule with shifts available seven days a week between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., allowing employees to maintain a healthy work-life balance without late-night hours. Compensation is competitive and based on experience, with additional financial incentives such as 1.5x holiday and overtime pay, referral bonuses for introducing new team members, and recognition programs that reward star employees with monetary awards.
Benefits at Atlantic Shores extend beyond just pay. Employees have access to comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans, as well as life insurance and short-term/long-term disability coverage. Supplemental benefits like accident, cancer, critical illness coverage, legal resources, and identity theft protection are available, alongside a 401k plan with a company match. A tuition reimbursement program offers up to $5,250 annually for qualifying coursework, aiding continuous professional development. Educational partnership discounts with several universities provide additional growth opportunities for employees eager to advance their careers.
As a Utility Worker, the scope of responsibilities involves much more than dishwashing. Duties include washing and sanitizing pots, dishes, and carts, operating dishwashing machines, and general cleaning duties that uphold kitchen sanitation standards. Utility Workers also manage stocking and storing of food and non-food supplies, receiving and delivering supplies and food trays within the facility, and aiding in food preparation as necessary. The role reports directly to the Utility Supervisor and actively contributes to maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly kitchen environment. This position serves as an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals aiming to grow within the hospitality or food service industry, offering a supportive atmosphere and a team that functions as a close-knit family.
Applicants should be ready to commit to punctual attendance with reliable transportation, possess good organizational and time-management skills, and demonstrate a positive attitude and team spirit. The role requires up to one month of related experience or training, making it accessible to those entering the workforce or transitioning from other fields. By joining Atlantic Shores, employees can expect to be part of a community that values compassion, kindness, and the importance of making each day meaningful for residents. This role offers more than a paycheck—it provides an opportunity to be part of a mission-driven organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for seniors in a vibrant, supportive community.
