The Utility Worker position at Sodexo, located at Augusta University, represents a vital support role within the kitchen and facility operations. This part-time role offers varying shifts with open availability preferred, paying between $12 and $14 per hour. The Utility Worker is integral in maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout food production and service areas. Responsibilities include washing dishes, sanitizing work areas and equipment, sweeping and mopping floors, removing trash, restocking supplies, and assisting with setup and breakdown tasks as needed. Physical stamina is important for this role, as it requires standing or walking for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.

This position does not require previous related experience but demands attention to sanitation procedures and basic food safety concepts. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • No related work experience required
  • Open availability preferred
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Must attend work and show for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of sanitation procedures, including basic concepts of food safety
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Washes dishes by hand or places them in a dishwashing machine
  • Clean and sanitize worktables, walls, refrigerators and meat blocks
  • Sweeps, mops, cleans and vacuums floors
  • Removes trash and garbage to designated areas
  • Cleans equipment using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards
  • Re-stock supplies, such as soap, paper towels, and cleaning materials
  • Assist with basic set-up and break-down tasks as directed
