The Utility Worker role based at USC Arcadia Hospital is a part-time position with a pay rate of $21.00 per hour. This role involves supporting kitchen and facility operations to maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in food production and service areas. The utility worker is essential to ensuring that equipment, utensils, floors, walls, and storage spaces are clean and sanitary. Responsibilities include washing dishes by hand or using dishwashing machines, cleaning various surfaces and equipment with proper chemicals, sweeping and mopping floors, removing trash, restocking cleaning supplies, and assisting with setup and breakdown tasks as directed. The worker must be able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift various weights throughout their shift, which may extend over eight hours per day.
This position requires flexibility in scheduling as shifts may vary, including days, hours, weekends, and holidays. Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- No related work experience required
- Knowledge of sanitation procedures, to include basic concepts of food safety
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and lift up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally lift or move 50 pounds
- Availability to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays
- Ability to attend work and show for scheduled shifts on time
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of sanitation procedures, including basic concepts of food safety
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally move up to 50 pounds
- Good attendance and punctuality
Job Duties
- Washes dishes by hand or places them in a dishwashing machine
- Clean and sanitize worktables, walls, refrigerators and meat blocks
- Sweeps, mops, cleans and vacuums floors
- Removes trash and garbage to designated areas
- Cleans equipment using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards
- Re-stock supplies, such as soap, paper towels, and cleaning materials
- Assists with basic set-up and break-down tasks as directed
