This particular opportunity is for a part-time Utility Worker position located at the University of Texas at Austin, offered by Sodexo. The pay range for this role is $15 to $20 per hour depending on experience and shift timings. The Utility Worker role is essential in supporting kitchen and facility operations by maintaining stringent cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout the food production and service areas. As a Utility Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring all kitchen and dining areas maintain high sanitary standards by cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, floors, walls, and storage spaces. Key tasks include washing dishes either by hand or using a dishwashing machine, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, removing trash, and restocking supplies like soap and paper towels. Additionally, the role requires physical stamina to stand or walk for extended periods, lift heavy items up to 50 pounds, and perform various movements such as bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. The position plays a critical role in supporting the overall food service operation by assisting with set-up and break-down tasks as needed.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- No related work experience required
- Knowledge of sanitation procedures, to include basic concepts of food safety
- Ability to work varying shifts, including open availability preferred
- Capability to stand or walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Good physical mobility including reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of sanitation procedures, including basic concepts of food safety
- Ability to work flexible shifts including variable hours and days
- Capability to perform physically demanding tasks involving lifting, bending, and standing
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions
- Strong work ethic with regular attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Washes dishes by hand or places them in a dishwashing machine
- Clean and sanitize worktables, walls, refrigerators and meat blocks
- Sweeps, mops, cleans and vacuums floors
- Removes trash and garbage to designated areas
- Cleans equipment using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards
- Re-stock supplies, such as soap, paper towels, and cleaning materials
- Performs significant walking or other means of mobility
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, throughout the entire duration of a shift, which may exceed 8 hours
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
- Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
- Assists with basic set-up and break-down tasks as directed
- Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements
