The current opportunity is for the position of Utility Technician - Glass Cleaner. This role is critical within SBM’s operational framework, involving the upkeep and cleaning of glass surfaces such as doors, escalators, and windows in various work environments. The Utility Tech plays an essential role in preventative maintenance and routine cleaning, helping to ensure facilities maintain a professional and pristine appearance. With shifts offered in early mornings or afternoons, employees will enjoy a stable schedule compensated at $17.80 per hour.

As a Utility Technician focusing on glass cleaning, the individual will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining high-visibility glass components like revolving and sliding doors, as well as escalators and windows. The role requires not only cleaning skills but also general maintenance tasks such as inspecting fleet vehicles, troubleshooting power tools, and repairing minor issues with production machinery. The Technician may also operate specialized equipment like Boom Lifts or Highlifts to perform high-rise window cleaning and related duties. Safety is a paramount concern, with the job requiring adherence to company safety rules, use of personal protective equipment, and the responsibility to identify and stop risky behaviors.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a high school diploma or GED and some experience in a related company environment. Valid driver's license and clear driving records are necessary due to the use of company vehicles and on-site transportation requirements. While forklift certification is a plus, it is not initially mandatory but may be required later. This role does not involve supervisory responsibilities but does require teamwork and communication skills to successfully complete tasks under supervision.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Six months in a company environment or equivalent experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with clear MVR
  • Completion of all safety and task training certifications
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds regularly
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear personal protective equipment
  • May require forklift certification
  • Must be able to perform duties safely and follow company policies and procedures

Job Duties

  • Maintain clean work area and complies with company safety rules, policies, and procedures
  • Stop at risk behavior of others and self
  • Follow posted safety standards and wears personal protective equipment when necessary
  • Inspect and repair fleet vehicles, troubleshoot power tools or replace a broken component on a production machine
  • Inspect work process to ensure all projects turn out correctly
  • Take direction and responds to supervision and performs work assignments in a team with other employees
  • Understand customer service and satisfaction
  • Utilize Boom Lift/Highlift to complete high rise window cleaning, high rise dusting, cleaning of stainless steel and frames, light cleaning
  • Perform other duties as assigned
