Job Description
The hiring organization is a food service establishment committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency across all kitchen outlets. This company understands the importance of hygiene and proper kitchen equipment maintenance to ensure food safety and compliance with health regulations. Employees play a crucial role in upholding these standards, contributing to a smoothly functioning kitchen environment that supports the overall mission of delivering quality food service to customers. The work environment is dynamic, requiring individuals who are attentive, responsible, and able to work effectively with management and team members to maintain operational excellence and cleanliness.
This role is focused on the preparation and execution of cleaning, maintenance, and proper usage of all kitchen equipment across various outlets within the establishment. The position ensures that all kitchen equipment is functioning correctly and meets the standards outlined by the Board of Health, the Chief Utility Steward, and the Executive Chef. Responsibilities extend to maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and surrounding areas, conducting cleaning projects, and participating in the handling and rotation of food stocks. The individual taking up this role will also assist in weekly inventories of cleaning supplies, develop sanitation checklists, and actively engage in training sessions to stay informed on nutrition, dietary standards, and general kitchen safety protocols.
In addition to maintaining equipment and kitchen cleanliness, the role requires the individual to participate in food distribution across the campus, wash dishes and kitchen utensils ensuring strict sanitation, and run errands as needed to support kitchen operations. The position demands strong communication skills to effectively report and discuss job-related issues with management, as well as the ability to understand and follow instructions in basic English. Physical stamina is essential due to frequent standing, short walking distances, handling food and equipment, and enduring temperature variations when accessing cold storage areas.
This job suits candidates who have at least a high school degree or equivalent, with a preference for those who have a minimum of one year experience in a quality food service operation. Candidates must attend or be aware of food handler training and pass the required physical examination related to food handling. Work hours are flexible and include availability on weekends to accommodate the operational needs of the kitchen environment. Although the position may involve varied tasks assigned by the Executive Chef and Chief Utility Steward, it fundamentally supports the core mission of upholding health and safety standards while ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and hygienically.
