The Utility Porter position at CSG serves a vital role in supporting janitorial services, facility setup, and utility operations at university campuses where cleanliness, safety, and proper arrangement of facilities are critical. The Utility Porter works closely with university managers and CSG supervisors to maintain and uphold operational standards necessary for daily campus activities and special events. This role demands a versatile and proactive individual responsible for both indoor and outdoor maintenance tasks, including cleaning, event setup, equipment handling, and routine facility checks.
The role involves key responsibilities such as taking instructions, cleaning and maintaining campus work areas, setting up furniture and equipment for events, operating specialized cleaning machinery, managing supplies, and ensuring the safe handling of chemicals and fuels. The Utility Porter also plays an integral part in communication between day and night crews to ensure smooth transitions and thorough completion of tasks.
Physically, this role requires stamina and the ability to perform prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting, and repetitive movements in various environmental conditions. The position offers a compensation range of $17.00 to $19.00 per hour, highlighting competitive pay aligned with the responsibilities involved. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Relevant facilities or janitorial experience preferred
- Ability to lift carry push pull and move furniture and equipment up to 50 pounds
- Capability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
- Availability to work prolonged standing and walking for up to 8 hours per shift
- Willingness to comply with safety protocols PPE usage and infection control procedures
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Relevant facilities or janitorial experience desirable
- Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures sanitation and safety practices
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable adaptable and professional
Job Duties
- Take verbal and written instructions from university managers
- Clean assigned work areas inside and outside campus facilities including trash removal and proper disposal
- Set up and break down tables chairs and mobile stage equipment for events
- Properly install and remove floor mats in the MAC Gym
- Operate floor machines power washers and other cleaning equipment safely
- Maintain and order cleaning supplies in closets
- Ensure safe handling and storage of volatile cleaning chemicals gasoline and diesel
- Oversee completion of utility projects ensuring sign-off by supervisors
- Communicate effectively between day and night crews regarding tasks and site needs
- Drive campus-approved golf carts for transporting equipment or supplies
- Follow all safety procedures wear required PPE and comply with site and company protocols
- Once a week check and refill the utility golf cart's distilled battery water cells as necessary
- Assist with other duties as assigned
