One of their prominent locations is in the Denver International Airport, where they manage a diverse restaurant portfolio, including popular brands like Smashburger and Bar and Tivoli Tap House. The Utility position at SSP America is an essential role focused on maintaining the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of restaurant areas, equipment, and dining rooms. This is a hands-on job that includes cleaning floors, walls, windows, grills, refrigerators, and other surfaces to ensure that cleanliness standards are always met. Utilities are responsible for waste removal, resetting tables between seatings, and assisting kitchen and serving staff by handling cleaning tasks such as washing dishes and sanitizing equipment. The role requires attention to detail to use cleaning chemicals properly and maintain health and safety standards.
In addition to physical cleaning tasks, the Utility is expected to assist guests communicate any specific needs to the server or supervisor, which enhances the guest experience and supports the front-of-house staff. The job also includes stock management duties such as loading and unloading supply trucks, rotating food items, checking their temperatures, and ensuring safe storage practices. Job Duties
- create a positive guest experience by cleaning and maintaining hygienic work areas
- maintain the cleanliness of all surfaces and equipment including floors, ceiling tiles, walls, windows, worktables, hoods, vents, grills, refrigerators, service counters, storage areas
- remove refuse to designated areas
- clear and reset tables in dining areas between seatings as needed and transport service-ware to the kitchen for cleaning
- scrape food from dirty dishes, pots, and pans and wash them by hand or load dishwasher and return them to their proper storage place
- clean equipment using specific chemicals to meet sanitary standards including heavy equipment
- assist all guests with specific requests and communicate special needs to server or supervisor
- load and unload supply trucks transferring between storage and work areas
- stock, date, rotate, and check the temperature of food items
- other duties as assigned
