The Utility position at SSP America plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitary standards of the restaurants and food service units within the airport. This role is essential in creating a safe and pleasant environment not only for the guests but also for the team members working within the establishments. A Utility worker at SSP America undertakes various responsibilities focused on hygiene and maintenance, including cleaning and sanitizing floors, walls, windows, worktables, grills, refrigerators, and other kitchen and dining equipment. They also manage refuse removal, table clearing and resetting, dishwashing by hand or with a dishwasher, and the proper storage of cleaned utensils and cookware. Handling chemical cleaning agents and occasionally operating heavy cleaning equipment ensures that all health and safety standards are met consistently. Additionally, the role requires excellent communication skills to assist guests with special requests, collaborate effectively with servers and supervisors, and maintain seamless operational flow.
This position also includes tasks related to supply management, such as loading and unloading trucks, transferring supplies between storage and work areas, and diligently checking food item stocks for quality control by dating, rotating, and temperature monitoring. - verbal and written communication skills

Job Duties
- create a positive guest experience by cleaning and maintaining hygienic work areas
- maintain the cleanliness of all surfaces and equipment including floors, ceiling tiles, walls, windows, worktables, hoods, vents, grills, refrigerators, service counters, and storage areas
- remove refuse to designated areas
- clear and reset tables in dining areas between seatings as needed and transport service-ware to the kitchen for cleaning
- scrape food from dirty dishes, pots, and pans and wash them by hand or load dishwasher and return them to their proper storage place
- clean equipment using specific chemicals to meet sanitary standards, may include the use of heavy equipment
- assist all guests with specific requests and communicate special needs to server or supervisor
- load and unload supply trucks transferring between storage and work areas
- stock, date, rotate, and check the temperature of food items
