The Utility Attendant position available is a part-time role located at St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson, NJ. This role is central to maintaining the sanitation and organization of all designated food service and kitchen areas within the medical facility. The Utility Attendant is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the kitchen, cafeteria, storage, and receiving areas by adhering to sanitation standards and safe food handling practices. Key responsibilities include cleaning floors, walls, shelving, coolers, and service and preparation stations, as well as transporting food to patient units, the cafeteria, and other departments. The position involves managing food storage and rotation according to the FIFO (first in, first out) method, washing and sanitizing kitchen utensils and equipment in compliance with state sanitation regulations, and disposing of food waste properly. Additionally, the role supports storeroom management tasks such as receiving, storing, inventory maintenance, and distribution of food products and supplies. The Utility Attendant works closely with the team to deliver food and supplies promptly and ensures adherence to all regulatory and departmental standards. This role requires individuals who have the ability to understand written instructions, basic math skills, and a commitment to food safety certification. While no previous experience is mandatory, a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with successful completion of a Food Handler certification within one week of employment. The position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $16.00 to $21.60 and includes eligibility for robust benefits for part-time workers exceeding 20 hours per week.
