The role being described here is that of a Utility Associate at HMSHost, specifically located at Houston Hobby Airport in the Food & Beverage division. This position is a critical element of maintaining cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency in a food service environment. The Utility Associate is responsible for a broad range of cleaning and maintenance tasks which ensure that all aspects of the kitchen and food preparation areas meet strict sanitary standards. This includes cleaning equipment such as work tables, refrigerators, and meat blocks; washing and returning utensils, pots, and pans; removing trash and waste to designated disposal areas; and maintaining clean floors, walls, and windows using a variety of cleaning methods and tools.
In addition to cleaning responsibilities, the Utility Associate also manages inventory tasks such as checking ice levels, handling keg beers and CO2 containers, restocking supplies, and loading and unloading supply trucks. Attention to security and safety procedures established by HMSHost is mandatory, highlighting a responsibility to maintain a secure and safe environment not only for employees but for guests as well. This non-exempt position requires physical stamina, the ability to lift and move substantial weights, and excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with coworkers and customers alike.

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Clean equipment including work tables, refrigerators, and meat blocks
- Clean utensils, pots, and pans by hand or in dishwashing machines
- Return clean utensils, pots, and pans to designated areas
- Remove trash and garbage to designated disposal areas
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and buff floors using heavy equipment
- Clean walls, windows, and steam clean trashcans
- Stock, date, rotate, and check temperature of products
- Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas
- Load and unload supply trucks
- Follow all company-established security and safety procedures
