The company prides itself on offering competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and ample opportunities for career growth and advancement. HMSHost has a deep commitment to earning the trust and loyalty of its employees by providing a supportive work environment where individuals feel they belong, can be proud of their work, have fun, earn money, and develop their careers. The company promotes equal employment opportunity and fosters a workplace culture that is inclusive and diverse, respecting all protected characteristics under federal, state, and local laws.
The role of the Utility Associate at HMSHost is vital to maintaining high sanitary and operational standards in the food service environment. This non-exempt position involves a variety of responsibilities essential to the smooth functioning of the establishment. The Utility Associate reports typically to the Cook, Assistant Manager, or Store Manager depending on the store's local requirements. The core duties include cleaning equipment, workstations, utensils, pots, and pans using approved chemicals to uphold sanitary standards. Additionally, the Utility Associate monitors and manages supplies such as ice levels, keg beers, bib sodas, and CO2 containers, ensuring they are replaced when necessary to avoid service interruptions. This role requires unloading and loading supply trucks and managing product stock by dating, rotating, and checking temperatures to comply with food safety regulations.
Essential functions of the Utility Associate also encompass thorough cleaning of floors, walls, windows, and trashcans employing various cleaning methods, including the use of heavy equipment. The position demands physical stamina and the ability to bend, twist, stand, and lift or move items weighing up to 40 pounds. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are important, as the Utility Associate interacts with the public and coworkers in a friendly and enthusiastic manner, fostering a positive work atmosphere. Since the job involves frequent immersion of hands in water mixed with chemical solutions, a level of comfort with this aspect is required. Attention to safety and security procedures as mandated by HMSHost policy is obligatory to ensure the wellbeing of both employees and customers.
HMSHost offers its Utility Associates an attractive pay rate of $21.50 per hour. The company also provides an extensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, generous paid time off which encompasses vacation, flex, or sick leave, holiday pay, meal and transportation benefits, a 401(k) retirement plan with a company match, company-paid life insurance, tuition reimbursement, employee assistance programs, training, and exciting career growth opportunities. Employees are further incentivized through a referral program that rewards them with bonuses for bringing qualified friends into the company. These benefits may vary by position, and prospective employees are encouraged to discuss specifics with recruiters.
Choosing a career as a Utility Associate at HMSHost not only offers competitive financial compensation and benefits but also aligns with a company's values that emphasize trust, respect, inclusion, and personal development. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy a dynamic work setting, have strong work ethic, and wish to contribute to creating a welcoming environment for travelers. HMSHost invites candidates ready to feel great at work and eager to join an expansive family of restaurants that play an essential role in enhancing the travel experience to apply and become part of their mission to help travelers feel good on the move.
