The Utility/Dishwasher Worker role at SSP America is essential for ensuring that the restaurants and food service units remain clean, sanitary, and well-maintained. This position plays a critical part in supporting the overall guest experience by maintaining hygienic work areas, cleaning equipment, and managing waste to meet health and safety standards. The role involves overnight shifts with pay ranging from $16.00 to $17.00 per hour and includes two weeks of paid time off, making it an attractive job for individuals seeking stable employment with benefits and advancement prospects.

In this position, Utility/Dishwasher Workers are responsible for various cleaning and maintenance tasks, such as sanitizing floors, walls, windows, worktables, grills, refrigerators, storage areas, and more. They also assist with clearing and resetting tables, handling service ware, operating dishwashers, and using chemicals safely to meet sanitation standards. The role requires strong communication skills to aid guests with special requests and to coordinate with supervisors and servers. Workers also help with logistical duties like loading and unloading supply trucks and managing food inventory by stocking, dating, rotating, and monitoring temperature levels.

Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years old
  • minimum six months experience working in retail or food service environment
  • high school diploma preferred
  • verbal and written communication
  • must be able to read, speak, and understand English language to communicate with guests and receive instructions
  • experience in dealing with problems involving guest service
  • food handlers permit as required by law
  • brand certification as required
  • ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time

Job Duties

  • Create a positive guest experience by cleaning and maintaining hygienic work areas
  • maintain the cleanliness of all surfaces and equipment such as floors, ceiling tiles, walls, windows, worktables, hoods, vents, grills, refrigerators, service counters, and storage areas
  • remove refuse to designated areas
  • clear and reset tables in dining areas between seatings as needed and transport service-ware to the kitchen for cleaning
  • scrape food from dirty dishes, pots, and pans and wash them by hand or load dishwasher and return them to their proper storage place
  • clean equipment using specific chemicals to meet sanitary standards which may include the use of heavy equipment
  • assist all guests with specific requests and communicate special needs to server or supervisor
  • load and unload supply trucks transferring between storage and work areas
  • stock, date, rotate, and check the temperature of food items
  • perform other duties as assigned
