The company values innovation and teamwork, fostering a culture where associates can thrive and contribute to the success of the business and the satisfaction of its members. Sam's Club also emphasizes employee development and offers a variety of benefits aimed at improving the overall well-being of its workforce.
The Prepared Foods and Café Department Lead at Sam's Club plays a pivotal role in driving sales and supervising a team of hourly associates responsible for creating and serving meals to members. This leadership position requires a deep knowledge of prepared foods and café operations, including kitchen and backroom management, production, inventory, sanitation, and safety standards. The department lead works collaboratively with other team leaders to ensure the club meets and exceeds member expectations.
In this role, you will be a team leader managing the daily operations within prepared foods departments such as café, rotisserie, and other fresh areas. Responsibilities include facilitating rotations through these areas, managing member needs, and executing company programs to support the overall business plan. You will maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory standards while serving as an advocate for members, associates, and the company. Expertise in digital tools and technology is vital, as you will leverage these to improve sales, enhance the shopping experience, and increase associate engagement.
You will also take ownership of business results, planning for profitability, maintaining operational excellence, and ensuring appropriate staffing and audit accuracy. Collaboration with various departments and third-party partners like maintenance personnel and suppliers will be essential to ensure smooth operations and merchandise presentation aligned with company plans.
As a talent ambassador, the department lead is responsible for teaching and training the team, identifying skill development needs, promoting career growth, and sourcing new talent. You will implement processes and practices to meet business needs by working closely with managers, coworkers, and customers. Upholding the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and compliance is a fundamental aspect of this position, modeling company values and fostering a workplace culture centered on respect, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Sam's Club offers competitive pay ranging from $22.00 to $30.00 per hour, plus performance-based bonuses and an extensive benefits package. Health benefits include medical, vision, and dental coverage. Financial benefits include a 401(k) plan, stock purchase options, and company-paid life insurance. Paid time off options are comprehensive, covering vacation, parental leave, family care leave, and more. Additional perks include short-term and long-term disability insurance, company discounts, military leave pay, and education benefits through the Live Better U program, which covers tuition and related expenses for degree and certificate programs.
This position is located at 5702 Baltimore National Pike, Catonsville, MD, and requires candidates to be at least 18 years of age and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments. Previous experience of six months in a fresh production department or supervising a team is required. Preferred qualifications include experience supervising a team and a Food Handler Certification in Food Safety. Sam's Club is committed to maintaining a drug-free and safe workplace environment for all employees.
