Known for offering quality merchandise at great values, Sam's Club serves millions of members across the United States. The company emphasizes customer satisfaction by providing a diverse product selection, including fresh food, electronics, home goods, and more. Sam's Club is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace culture that encourages growth, development, and innovation among its associates.
The Prepared Foods and Café Department Lead position at Sam's Club is a crucial role designed to drive sales and ensure operational excellence within the designated department. This role involves supervising a team of hourly associates who prepare and serve meals to members, ensuring that Sam's Club delivers more of what members love, for less. As a Department Lead, you will be expected to model expertise in prepared foods and café operations while working collaboratively with other team leaders to meet the overall business goals and maintain high standards throughout the club. The position offers competitive hourly wages ranging from $21.00 to $29.00, along with performance-based bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the prepared foods areas, including the café, rotisserie, and other fresh food sections. You will oversee product quality, inventory levels, production processes, sanitation, equipment use, safety compliance, and more. A significant part of the role involves leading by example, training and developing your team, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
You will also leverage digital tools and technology to drive sales, improve member shopping experiences, and increase team engagement. This includes using handheld technology for real-time decision-making related to production and product quality, helping your team adopt new systems and processes, and encouraging continuous improvement. Moreover, you will act as a business owner by planning for profitability, maintaining cleanliness and safety, managing staffing levels, and coordinating with other departments and external partners for seamless operation.
As a leader, you will function as a talent ambassador by identifying and addressing training needs, facilitating career growth opportunities, and recruiting new talent both internally and externally. You will implement business processes and practices that align with company goals, monitor results, and make necessary adjustments to enhance operational efficiency.
The position requires a commitment to upholding Walmart's values, which include respecting individuals, acting with integrity, serving customers and members, and striving for excellence. Sam's Club prioritizes creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where all associates feel supported and empowered to succeed. This role seeks candidates who embody humility, transparency, fairness, and a strong work ethic while maintaining a customer-first mindset and striving for continuous improvement.
Overall, this leadership role offers a great opportunity to grow professionally in a dynamic retail environment while making a direct impact on the success of the prepared foods department and the satisfaction of Sam's Club members. The position promises a rewarding career path with competitive pay, extensive benefits including health, financial, paid time off, and educational assistance programs, all contributing to a balanced and fulfilling work-life experience.
