Job Description
Sam's Club is a leading membership-only retail warehouse club, part of Walmart Inc., dedicated to providing quality products and services to its members while offering exceptional value. As a large retailer that operates numerous warehouse clubs across the United States, Sam's Club focuses on delivering fresh, innovative food products, along with household items, electronics, and other essentials. Known for its commitment to member satisfaction and operational excellence, Sam's Club ensures each location operates with high standards in quality, safety, and customer service. The company promotes a positive workplace culture that values its employees and offers competitive pay, performance-based bonuses, and comprehensive benefits to support their well-being and professional growth.
The role of the Prepared Foods and Café Department Lead is pivotal at Sam's Club, serving as both a team supervisor and an operational expert within the prepared foods departments, including café, rotisserie, and other fresh food areas. This leadership position involves driving sales, managing a team of hourly associates, and ensuring that members receive high-quality food offerings at competitive prices. The department lead is responsible for maintaining the areas under their supervision to company and regulatory standards encompassing quality control, sanitation, inventory, production efficiency, and safety compliance.
In this role, the Prepared Foods and Café Department Lead also leverages various digital and handheld technologies to forecast sales, monitor production, delegate tasks efficiently, and respond promptly to business needs. The department lead is expected to be an advocate for members, employees, and the company, promoting teamwork, adherence to company policies, and the execution of strategic business plans. This position emphasizes talent development through training, coaching, and identifying new team members to foster a skilled and motivated workforce.
Working closely with other department leaders and third-party partners such as maintenance and suppliers, the department lead ensures continuity, operational readiness, and an exceptional shopping experience for members. Sam's Club offers a competitive hourly wage range from $21.00 to $29.00, with potential additional compensation based on shifts, facilities, seasons, or specific work performed, making this an attractive opportunity for individuals passionate about leading teams in a dynamic retail food environment. As part of Walmart and Sam's Club’s commitment to employee growth, educational benefits through their Live Better U program are available, covering tuition, books, and fees for a wide range of educational pursuits.
The position requires a minimum of six months of experience in fresh production or team supervision and candidates must be at least 18 years of age. Preferred qualifications include experience supervising a team and possession of a Food Handler Certification. Sam's Club maintains a strict drug-free workplace policy to ensure a safe and productive environment for all employees. This comprehensive leadership role is ideal for those looking to develop their management skills while contributing to a well-respected retail environment that prioritizes quality, safety, and member satisfaction.
