Job Description
Sam's Club is a leading membership-only warehouse club that offers quality products at great prices to its members. Known for its commitment to value, quality, and customer service, Sam's Club operates in various locations across the United States, delivering a wide range of merchandise including groceries, electronics, home goods, and more. As part of the Walmart family, Sam's Club is dedicated to creating positive impacts for its members, associates, and communities through ethical business practices and a culture of respect and inclusion.
The position of Cake Decorator at Sam's Club plays an essential role in ensuring that bakery products not only meet but exceed member expectations. This position is focused on delivering high-quality decorated bakery items, combining artistry with food safety and operational excellence. The Cake Decorator works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to maintain production efficiency, uphold quality standards, and contribute to an exceptional member shopping experience. The role requires a balance of creativity, technical skills, and customer service, making it integral to the bakery department's success.
As a Cake Decorator, you will be involved in planning bakery productions, ensuring consistency in quality and accuracy in decorative designs following precise recipes and instructions. Using tools such as decorating bags, tips, and nozzles, the decorator creates intricate and visually appealing decorations including flowers and lettering. Adherence to food safety standards, sanitation guidelines, cold chain compliance, and inventory management are critical components of this role. Operating, maintaining, and sanitizing bakery equipment efficiently forms part of your daily responsibilities.
The role also demands adaptability and proficiency with digital tools, using hand-held devices for business decisions like production scheduling, merchandise ordering, and training—all focused on enhancing the member experience. You will actively engage in driving performance metrics such as quality control, date management, waste elimination, and preparation for seasonal events that affect bakery volume.
Being an ambassador for the brand, the Cake Decorator models high-quality service and product standards, shares knowledge with associates, and supports a respectful and supportive team environment. This position aligns with Sam's Club's principles of integrity, respect, and excellence, supporting a culture where associates feel valued and motivated to perform at their best.
Sam's Club offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $20.00 to $28.00, with the potential for additional premiums depending on schedule, location, and specific work performed. The company provides comprehensive health benefits including medical, vision, and dental coverage. Financial benefits such as 401(k), stock purchase plans, and company-paid life insurance are also available. Paid time off benefits include PTO, parental leave, family care leave, bereavement, jury duty, and voting, accommodating various personal needs and milestones. Additional perks include short-term and long-term disability, company discounts, military leave pay, adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, and access to the Live Better U education program, which supports career growth through fully paid tuition and training.
