This job opening is for the urgent hiring of Class A Delivery Drivers at Core-Mark. The position caters to individuals of all experience levels who aspire to contribute significantly to America’s food distribution system. Delivery drivers play an essential role as the frontline representatives of the company, ensuring that food and food service products reach customers safely, timely, and in impeccable condition. The role demands a high level of responsibility, safety awareness, and customer service skills, as these drivers are the face of Core-Mark to many valued clients. The compensation package starts at $29.50 per hour during training, with a pay structure thereafter based on every stop, load, and mile covered. Top performers have the opportunity to earn between $80,000 and $100,000 in their first year. Work schedules are Monday through Friday, supporting team routes to streamline operations and foster camaraderie among drivers. The position also offers a safe and inclusive working environment grounded in respect, recognition, and a rewards culture, thereby enhancing employee satisfaction and retention.
The Class A Delivery Driver’s responsibilities extend beyond merely transporting goods. They must perform thorough DOT-mandated safety checks on tractors, trucks, and trailers, ensuring that equipment meets company and governmental safety standards at all times. Drivers are required to report any necessary repairs or safety issues promptly. Detailed inspection of freight loading to verify proper securing and accurate counts against invoices is critical to maintaining the integrity of deliveries. Drivers also oversee the completion of all required paperwork regarding freight movement accurately and legibly, a vital aspect of compliance with federal and state regulations.
On the job, delivery drivers transport products following predetermined routes and schedules, maintain positive customer interactions by verifying deliveries and obtaining signatures, and handle payments where applicable. Additionally, they manage returned goods, secure trailers and equipment properly, and perform housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and operational efficiency in trailers and loading areas. Logging hours of service and complying with Federal DOT record-keeping requirements are mandatory aspects of the role. The position requires physical ability to handle freight weighing between 10 and 90 pounds, utilizing equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to aid in the transportation and stacking of merchandise.
Core-Mark is an equal employment opportunity employer, fostering diversity and inclusion across all levels of the company. Their commitment to providing an equitable workplace is reflected in their adherence to all applicable laws protecting against discrimination based on race, gender, age, disability, veteran status, and other factors.
