Job Description

The Providence Provider Resource Department (PRD) is part of Providence, a nationally recognized and comprehensive healthcare organization serving seven states with a mission to provide compassionate care to all individuals, especially the poor and vulnerable. Providence operates 51 hospitals, over 800 clinics, and a broad spectrum of health and social services, supported by more than 119,000 caregivers and employees. The organization is dedicated to delivering outstanding healthcare by leveraging a connected network of ambulatory, surgical, imaging, and urgent care services designed to improve access, reduce barriers, and provide convenient, high-quality care across communities.

The Providence Clinical Network (PCN) is pioneering a consumer-centric approach focused on optimizing ambulatory care services, including urgent care and same-day options throughout Portland, Oregon. PCN’s Express and Urgent Care clinics are integral parts of this vision, offering patients immediate access to outpatient care that helps reduce unnecessary hospital visits and improve health outcomes. In Portland, the PCN’s network spans seven Immediate Care clinics, each committed to making healthcare easier, more transparent, and affordable for diverse populations.

Your role as a Per Diem physician associate or nurse practitioner will involve floating across all Immediate Care clinics in the Portland service area, providing coverage where it is most needed. This unique float position requires a highly autonomous provider willing and able to serve high patient volumes in a fast-paced urgent care setting. You will work both 6- or 12-hour shifts, offering outpatient care exclusively, and must be prepared to travel between clinic sites within the Portland metropolitan area to meet patient demand. The position guarantees a reliable salary along with attractive incentives, delivering both stability and flexibility.

Ideal candidates are those who possess over two years of experience in either urgent care or emergency department settings, thrive in environments where autonomy and rapid decision-making are essential, and hold an Oregon medical license. Beyond the immediate duties, this role presents a growth opportunity that can position you well for future non-float roles, allowing you to work alongside multispecialty teams across Providence’s extensive network of care providers. The position offers exposure to a broad spectrum of clinical cases and patient populations, enriching your professional development in a supportive, mission-driven health system.

Living and working in Portland, Oregon, offers an exceptional quality of life characterized by a thriving cultural scene, vibrant neighborhoods, and abundant outdoor recreational opportunities. From the city’s renowned dining options to its proximity to hiking trails, beaches, waterfalls, and skiing at Mt. Hood, Portland appeals to professionals who seek a balanced lifestyle with both urban amenities and natural escapes. The community is known for its robust job market and inclusive spirit, making it an excellent place to advance your healthcare career while enjoying a well-rounded life.

Providence is committed to equal employment opportunity and embraces diversity, including disability and veteran status, underscoring a workplace culture that values each individual’s contribution to the shared mission of delivering extraordinary care.
