The organization prides itself on fostering a supportive, team-oriented work environment where employees are encouraged to grow professionally and pursue further education. Banner Health's commitment extends beyond patient care to encompass employee development, offering programs such as a 20% employee discount through Weber State University and opportunities for career advancement within its extensive network of healthcare facilities.
Located in Loveland, Colorado, Banner Urgent Care provides a dynamic workplace dedicated to urgent and occupational health services. The clinic offers patients convenient access to prompt medical care with minimal wait times, affordable service models, and flexible scheduling designed to accommodate patient needs efficiently. Banner Urgent Care serves as a cornerstone for immediate medical attention, treating ailments that range from minor injuries like sprains to persistent illnesses such as coughs, ensuring patients receive prompt and effective treatment.
The Medical Assistant position at Banner Urgent Care involves a crucial role in supporting clinical staff and enhancing the patient experience. This role requires a collaborative spirit, as Medical Assistants work closely with clinicians, providers, and front office team members to ensure smooth operational workflow and high patient satisfaction. The position demands proficiency in clinical skills such as taking vital signs, administering medications, performing nose swabs (including for COVID-19 screening), minor procedures like splinting (with provided training), occasional phlebotomy, and effectively managing patient documentation in a largely paperless environment.
This role also involves several administrative responsibilities, including calling patients regarding lab results and recent visits, managing clinical supplies, and performing front desk duties. The position offers a balanced work schedule, typically involving three days a week with four-day breaks, shifting between 7:15 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., requiring availability for at least one weekend day and holidays per month. This arrangement promotes a healthy work-life balance, supporting employee wellness alongside professional commitments.
Besides supporting clinical procedures, the Medical Assistant aids in patient flow management, assists providers during exams, handles referrals, pre-certifications, authorizations, and prescription scheduling. They play a vital role in maintaining a sterile, safe, and well-stocked clinical environment by adhering to OSHA guidelines and sterilization protocols. Communication is key for this role, requiring effective interaction with patients, families, clinicians, and external healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care coordination.
Banner Health also emphasizes the importance of certifications and ongoing education, mandating active Medical Assistant certification and BLS certification for this role. The organization supports its workforce with training and orientation programs that prepare employees to excel in their roles. Banner Urgent Care is part of a larger initiative by Banner Health to provide quality healthcare services while fostering a culture of learning, teamwork, and patient-centered care within a large healthcare system.
