Job Description

St. Michael's Catholic Preparatory School is a distinguished independent Catholic school nestled in the scenic hills of southwest Austin, Texas. Serving a diverse student body from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade, the school is divided into three divisions: the Lower School for grades PreK 3 through 4th, the Middle School for grades 5 through 8, and the Upper School for grades 9 through 12. This co-educational institution prides itself on its strong Catholic heritage, a welcoming community that embraces diversity, and an excellent academic program enriched with a variety of extracurricular opportunities. As a technology-rich environment, St. Michael’s Prep emphasizes the use of innovative technology tools and encourages teachers and staff to foster growth in this area to create authentic and engaging learning experiences. The school’s core values are integrity, courage, and excellence, and its mission is to provide a transformative independent school experience rooted in Catholic spirituality that seeks excellence in all pursuits and nurtures virtuous leaders who will positively impact the world.

The Upper School Receptionist plays a crucial role at St. Michael's Catholic Preparatory School as the first point of contact for students, families, staff, and visitors. This position is vital in creating a warm, friendly, professional, and secure environment within the Upper School campus and is accountable to the Head of Upper School. The Receptionist’s role is non-exempt and hourly, beginning in the late summer of 2026. Responsibilities include managing incoming calls, greeting visitors, assisting with student check-ins and check-outs, maintaining attendance records in coordination with the Attendance Secretary, and ensuring secure campus access by monitoring surveillance and regulating gate entry. This position also involves maintaining detailed computerized files and visitor logs, supporting clerical tasks, and collaborating with security and administration during emergencies. The ideal candidate will embody the school’s values by treating students with care and love, demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills, and maintain composure under pressure in a dynamic school environment. This role supports the school’s mission by ensuring safety, efficiency, and a welcoming atmosphere that reflect the community’s commitment to put students first — educating them in mind, body, and spirit.
