Job Description

The Bartender role is central to the daily operations of the bar, tasked with crafting exceptional drinks and delivering warm, genuine service. This role requires mastering various bartending positions and assisting in leading shifts, ensuring smooth and efficient service even during peak hours. The bartender's responsibilities extend beyond drink preparation; they include training and supervising bar staff, managing inventory and supplies, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation, and adhering to liquor laws and corporate policies. The position demands strong knowledge of beverages, including wine, spirits, and beer, with the ability to discuss vintages, regions, and liquor levels confidently. Precision in using the point of sale system and cash handling is crucial for balancing the cash bank and tracking product consumption. This role is dynamic, requiring flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and the ability to perform under pressure. Ideal candidates must have excellent manual dexterity, strong communication skills, and a passion for hospitality, all aimed at enhancing the guest experience and supporting the team. Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of bartending experience required must have basic knowledge of beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages
  • must have a high level of knowledge of wine spirits and beer must be able to recite vintages regions and multiple levels of liquor
  • ability to obtain any government required license or certificate bartending certificate license required
  • basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register make change total guest checks count total bank prepare cash drops total all other charges and understand portion sizes
  • basic english language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions balance sheets and vouchers and to communicate with guests and take orders
  • sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnishes pick up glassware and bottles scoop ice mix drinks and reach overhead to retrieve stock
  • ability to remember recite and promote a variety of menu items
  • ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time
  • ability to operate a keyboard and perform point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check
  • must be able to work a varied schedule to include days evenings weekends holidays and the ability to work under pressure

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • bartending certificate or license
  • 2+ years bartending experience
  • knowledge of beverage preparation and service
  • knowledge of wine spirits and beer vintages regions and liquor levels
  • ability to obtain necessary licenses and government certificates
  • basic math skills
  • basic english communication skills
  • manual dexterity for drink preparation tasks
  • knowledge of point of sale systems
  • ability to work varied and flexible schedules

Job Duties

  • assist in training and supervising bar staff for the efficient operation of the outlet
  • set up the bar daily ensuring proper stocking of beer wine spirits paper goods straws stirrers condiments and produce based on daily function projections
  • cut prepare and store fresh fruit garnishes juices and other perishables each shift to maintain peak quality
  • greet guests warmly take and record drink orders and prepare beverages to standard recipes with proper garnish and portion control
  • assist in the creation of drink menu wine list ingredients preparation and service
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the bar area following personal hygiene standards
  • accurately track all products served using the pos system and consumption documentation
  • balance cash bank accurately at the end of each shift
  • comply with all state federal and corporate liquor laws including those regarding service to minors and intoxicated guests
  • other duties as assigned
