The role of Special Events and Crime Prevention Support at the University of South Florida is integral to upholding campus safety and ensuring the smooth execution of special events and community outreach programs. This position is responsible for the deployment and removal of special event equipment including cones, barricades, trailers, message boards, and signage, across events ranging from small-scale gatherings to large university functions. The role requires proficient operation of specialized equipment such as trucks, golf carts, and Polaris ATVs to ensure effective traffic control and safety on campus roadways and parking lots during events. Key responsibilities include staffing Crime Prevention booths and tables, disseminating crime prevention materials, and creating public information signage, banners, and maps to enhance community awareness and engagement.
In addition to field duties, this position involves substantial clerical and administrative tasks related to event management, such as data entry, reporting, organizing schedules and meetings, maintaining records, and coordinating law enforcement resources for special event coverage. The role also supports various university safety functions including lost and found property operations, motorist assistance, physical security reporting, fire and evacuation drills, and flag management duties. This multifaceted position requires a candidate with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively collaborate with law enforcement and campus departments to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all university patrons. Employment for this role is subject to a Level 2 Background Check and drug screening as part of the hiring process. This position demands a commitment to service, community engagement, and the ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of campus safety and event coordination at a leading research university.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two to four years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to operate trucks, golf carts, and Polaris ATV safely
- Willingness to undergo Level 2 Background Check and drug screening
- Availability to work flexible hours including special events
- Ability to perform clerical and administrative duties
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two to four years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Preferred three years of relevant job experience
- Prior law enforcement experience preferred
- Experience in special events support preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to operate specialized vehicles and equipment
Job Duties
- Deploy and remove special event equipment for small to large scale events
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment including trucks, golf carts, and Polaris ATV
- Perform traffic control functions on roadways and parking lots
- Staff Crime Prevention booths, tables, and events
- Disseminate and present Crime Prevention materials and training
- Perform clerical support including data entry, running reports, organizing schedules and meetings
- Schedule law enforcement resources and approve campus event requests
- Provide university support such as lost/found property management, motorist assistance, security and hazard reports, bike/property registration, fire and evacuation drills, flag management
- Perform other duties as assigned
