Job Description

Panda Restaurant Group, Inc., founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, is the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States with nearly 2,800 locations globally. The company has built a strong reputation for delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences and promoting family values within its organization. Panda Restaurant Group is dedicated to inspiring its employees to better their lives and to positively impacting the communities where it operates. As a pioneering leader in the casual dining industry, Panda emphasizes quality, hospitality, and operational excellence, creating a workplace culture that fosters growth, diversity, and inclusion. As an equal opportunity employer, Panda is committed to providing fair employment practices and accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The Unit Manager role at Panda Restaurant Group is a vital leadership position focused on managing all Back of House (BOH) operations in busy restaurant settings. The Unit Manager oversees every aspect of BOH performance, including inventory management, ordering, food cost control, maintaining food quality, and upholding stringent safety and sanitation standards. This role demands a high-energy, positive individual who is committed to delivering exceptional hospitality and operational efficiency. The Unit Manager collaborates with the BOH team to foster individual and team growth through coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities. The position requires balancing labor costs with operational demands via effective scheduling and workflow management. This leadership role also entails selecting and training new FOH and BOH staff to ensure consistent adherence to the company’s quality and customer service standards.

In addition to operational responsibilities, the Unit Manager ensures compliance with food preparation recipes, proper storage of food and supplies, and cleanliness throughout the kitchen and surrounding areas. The manager must maintain employee image and grooming standards to uphold the company’s professional appearance. Given the fast-paced nature of Panda’s restaurants, time management skills are critical to ensure timely preparation and delivery of orders to guests. This position typically offers consistent work hours with flexible scheduling options, providing an excellent income opportunity. Panda supports its team members with a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $80,000 annually, depending on experience and location, alongside comprehensive benefits designed to promote employee well-being and career growth.
