Job Description
Endeavors is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to empowering individuals and families to build better lives through comprehensive support services. With a focus on vulnerable populations including children, veterans, and homeless individuals, Endeavors operates various programs designed to provide safe shelter, crisis intervention, and supportive resources. Their mission centers on fostering self-sufficiency and improving quality of life by offering tailored programs that address immediate needs such as shelter and food, as well as long-term recovery and development goals. As a recognized leader in community-based supportive services, Endeavors prioritizes compassionate care, respect, and a trauma-informed approach in all aspects of their work to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all clients and staff.
The role of Unit Lead is a pivotal position within Endeavors' shelter operations. This full-time position involves providing supportive services and operational oversight during assigned shifts at the shelter. The Unit Lead serves as the primary point of contact for shelter staff and residents, ensuring that daily operations run smoothly while maintaining the safety and well-being of clients and staff. The role requires supervising shelter activities, enforcing behavioral expectations, and ensuring compliance with both program policies and federal and state standards. Key responsibilities include assisting with intake and room assignments, coordinating transportation and resource referrals, and monitoring staff-to-client ratios to guarantee adequate supervision.
The Unit Lead will conduct facility rounds to identify and address safety concerns, provide crisis intervention and behavioral support to maintain a structured environment, and manage administrative tasks such as record keeping, reporting, and communication of operational updates. This position also involves collaborating closely with shelter management to report on staff and client issues affecting health and safety. Regular participation in staff meetings, training, and professional development is expected to ensure current knowledge of best practices and regulatory requirements. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional customer service skills by prioritizing the needs of children, families, veterans, and other clients in alignment with Endeavors' mission. The role requires flexibility to work varied schedules including weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts, as well as the physical ability to perform duties that include lifting up to 50 pounds and prolonged standing. A valid driver’s license and daily use of a personal vehicle are required. This position embodies Endeavors’ commitment to creating a discrimination-free work environment that embraces diversity and equity.
