Emphasizing inclusivity and sustainability, Hyatt is dedicated to making travel more connected and human while celebrating each individual's unique contributions within the team. At its core, Hyatt believes that hospitality is not merely a job but a career path for people who genuinely care about making a difference in guests' lives.

Grand Hyatt San Francisco stands as a distinguished symbol of sophisticated elegance blended with modern style. Situated in the vibrant heart of downtown on Union Square, this high-rise hotel offers guests unrivaled access to some of San Francisco’s most iconic attractions, including premier shopping destinations, Michelin-star dining, and cultural landmarks such as the Golden Gate Theatre and Hayes Valley. Guests who stay at Grand Hyatt San Francisco enjoy spectacular views of the City by the Bay from the comfort of their luxurious rooms, providing a perfect retreat after a day filled with exploration and discovery.

The hotel also features the OneUP Restaurant and Lounge, a signature dining spot that caters to both locals and hotel guests seeking a relaxed yet refined atmosphere. Whether guests are looking for a delicious breakfast to start their day or prefer to unwind with classic American bistro fare accompanied by premium wines and cocktails in the evening, OneUP offers a warm and inviting experience. Complementing this is a room service option that provides a variety of in-room amenities for those desiring a convenient and private dining option.

The role of the Sous Chef at Grand Hyatt San Francisco is vital in maintaining the high culinary standards that guests expect. The Sous Chef works closely with the Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef to oversee the daily functions of the culinary department. This position calls for an individual capable of managing a specific kitchen department, ensuring quality control, supporting team members, and ultimately delivering exceptional guest experiences. When necessary, the Sous Chef may assume responsibility for the entire culinary operation, demonstrating strong leadership and operational skills.

Responsibilities of the Sous Chef include supporting senior leadership with management duties, acting as a liaison among culinary and other hotel departments, supervising food preparation and cooking, developing creative menu items in alignment with Hyatt brand standards, planning special events and holiday functions, and managing kitchen staff through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluating, and hiring. The role extends to mentoring other key culinary leaders and fostering an environment where both guests and employees thrive. Additionally, the Sous Chef monitors food production, costs, quality, consistency, and adheres to safety and sanitation regulations throughout the kitchen.

This position offers a salary starting at $30.14 per hour during the initial 90 days, with an increase to $40.18 per hour upon successful completion of the probationary period. Hyatt provides an outstanding package of benefits to its associates, including free room nights, discounted and friends and family room rates, comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and prescription insurance, paid vacation and holidays, family bonding time, adoption assistance, tuition reimbursement, free meals during shifts, and an employee stock purchase plan. Additional discounts are available at popular retailers such as Apple, AT&T, Verizon, and many more.
