This role is for a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer who operates under the supervision of the Ultrasound Manager or Chief Technologist. The Sonographer is responsible for performing a variety of complex ultrasound examinations using advanced imaging technology to produce high-quality diagnostic images. These images are then interpreted by radiologists to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment planning. The role requires following established protocols and physicians' specific instructions while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and minimal need for repeated exams due to poor quality. The Diagnostic Sonographer must promote service excellence, demonstrating compassionate and patient-centered care, ensuring a positive patient experience every step of the way.

The Diagnostic Sonographer plays a critical role in patient safety, service quality, and operational efficiency by adhering to departmental policies and utilizing technical skills in the use of diagnostic ultrasound equipment and related computer systems such as RIS (Radiology Information System) and PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System). In addition to technical duties, the Sonographer performs accurate medical record documentation, participates in continuous learning opportunities, and contributes to the training of peers, reinforcing a culture of excellence and professional growth within the department.

Flexibility is a key component of this position as Diagnostic Radiology staff may be assigned to any of the health system’s multiple diagnostic locations based on staffing needs.
