Job Description
Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical is a pioneering biopharmaceutical company dedicated to developing and delivering innovative therapies for rare and ultra-rare genetic diseases. With a core mission to lead the future of rare disease medicine, Ultragenyx is committed to addressing unmet medical needs by advancing the science and developing life-changing treatments that impact patients and caregivers worldwide. Known for its patient-centered approach, the company navigates challenging scientific frontiers and builds collaborative ecosystems that not only enhance patient outcomes but also promote fair and reasonable pricing models in healthcare. Ultragenyx is recognized for its supportive and inclusive organizational culture, fostering profound learning, growth, and well-being among its employees globally. The company values innovation, integrity, and impact, striving to create an environment where employees can thrive professionally and personally, making it a workplace that family and friends would be proud of.
The UltraCare Liaison (UCL) role at Ultragenyx offers an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful difference for patients affected by rare diseases. This position is rooted in patient impact and requires experienced professionals who are passionate about advancing treatment options in the rare disease community. UCLs represent Ultragenyx by promoting Dojolvi, a treatment for long chain fatty acid oxidation disorders (LC-FAOD), while preparing for the potential launch of novel gene therapies targeting disorders such as MPSIIIA and GSD1a. This role is field-based and involves managing a defined geographic territory, encompassing parts of Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, and New Jersey, with a responsibility to act as a business owner within this territory. Successful candidates must demonstrate a strong blend of business acumen, innovative problem-solving abilities, and outstanding communication skills to cultivate effective relationships with healthcare providers, genetic counselors, pharmacists, registered dieticians, and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include optimizing patient diagnosis and care through healthcare professional education, delivering informative presentations about Ultragenyx’s approved products, and supporting treatment fulfillment processes. UCLs are expected to develop and maintain robust strategic territory plans that identify key academic and community targets, tackle territory opportunities and challenges, and execute impactful programs and educational initiatives tailored for their area. The role requires strategic travel planning to ensure appropriate coverage of key accounts, proactive stakeholder engagement with the flexibility to adapt communication styles for different audiences, and meticulous adherence to compliance and administrative duties such as internal training, data entry, and expense reporting.
Ultragenyx seeks individuals who are ready for a career-defining role that combines scientific knowledge, strategic influence, and a results-driven sales approach in a collaborative environment. With a commitment to both patients and employees, the company offers a supportive culture focused on professional development and personal growth. If you are motivated by a chance to contribute to groundbreaking therapies and grow alongside an industry leader in rare disease treatment, this role offers an unmatched platform to excel and make a real-world impact.
