Job Requirements

  • CNA license
  • BLS - CPR certification may be obtained within 30 days from date of hire
  • Previous nurse assistant unit clerk experience preferred
  • Acute care experience within the last two years preferred
  • Nurse assistants or unit clerks without acute care experience within the last two years will be considered on an individual basis

Job Qualifications

  • Certified nursing assistant (CNA) license
  • Basic life support (BLS) - CPR certification may be obtained within 30 days from date of hire
  • Previous nurse assistant or unit clerk experience preferred
  • Acute care experience within the last two years preferred
  • Ability to perform assigned patient care tasks under supervision
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of medical record keeping and hospital safety protocols

Job Duties

  • Observe and recognize cardiac rhythms and proper operation of monitoring equipment
  • Notify registered nurse of changes in cardiac rhythm, patient status, and improperly functioning equipment
  • Serve as unit receptionist
  • Order tests
  • Order and monitor supply inventory
  • Coordinate unit phone communication
  • Perform assigned care under supervision including assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing comfort measures, transporting patients, stocking shelves, and cleaning work areas
  • Maintain medical record according to standard
  • Complete unit competency assessments, annual safety review, CPR training and certification renewal as required
