Founded in 1945, U-Haul has grown to become a trusted household name across the United States and Canada, offering a range of services including truck and trailer rentals, self-storage, and moving supplies. The company's mission is to provide dependable, high-quality products and exceptional customer service to make the process of moving and storing belongings as seamless as possible for individuals and families. Operating with a strong emphasis on community involvement and a culture of safety and wellness, U-Haul strives to create an inclusive and supportive environment not only for its customers but also for its employees.
This particular role is for a General Manager position located at the U-Haul Moving and Storage Center in Fresno, California. The position offers a competitive monthly salary ranging from $6,725 to $6,875. As the General Manager, the successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the facility's operations with an emphasis on profitability, efficiency, customer satisfaction, and team leadership. Responsibilities include hiring and mentoring staff, managing inventory and equipment, maintaining a secure and clean environment, and ensuring that all financial aspects of the operation, such as profit and loss analyses, are carefully monitored and controlled. The role demands a highly motivated individual who can handle the fast-paced and varied nature of managing a moving and storage center, including problem-solving as challenges arise. U-Haul offers a supportive work culture with opportunities for career advancement, extensive on-the-job training through U-Haul University, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurance, and wellness programs.
General Managers are expected to lead by example with a hands-on approach and are rewarded with performance bonuses, such as hiring bonuses and certification program incentives. This role also provides access to resources like the You Matter Employee Assistance Program, tuition reimbursement, and a 401(k) savings plan. U-Haul is committed to maintaining a healthy and safe workplace, has implemented a no-nicotine hiring policy in certain states, and values diversity and equal opportunity for all applicants. The work involves some physical exertion and requires the ability to maintain safety compliance while managing dynamic retail and service operations. This position is ideal for individuals with retail or service industry management experience who are eager to grow with a respected and customer-focused organization.
