The Turn Server role at Washington Golf and Country Club is a dynamic and multifaceted position that requires versatility and a high level of professionalism. This role operates in a fast-paced, casual dining environment known as The Turn, where members and guests enjoy a relaxed yet top-tier dining experience. The server is responsible for both preparing and serving beverages behind the bar and providing full table service. This dual responsibility demands excellent multitasking skills, a friendly and approachable demeanor, and an ability to deliver impeccable service consistently.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the food and beverage team, ensuring each member’s visit to The Turn is seamless and enjoyable. They will greet members and guests warmly, take precise orders, prepare cocktails and other beverages according to club standards and local liquor laws, and anticipate guest needs to offer personalized recommendations. The Turn Server must maintain an organized and well-stocked bar, follow safety and sanitation protocols meticulously, and maintain cleanliness and order throughout their shift.
Beyond the technical skills, this role requires strong communication abilities to coordinate effectively with kitchen staff, management, and peers, ensuring smooth operation during service periods. The Turn Server is expected to uphold the club’s high standards of appearance and service, demonstrating reliability, punctuality, and a proactive, team-oriented attitude. Employment for this position is part-time or full-time with competitive hourly pay ranging from $15.00 to $16.50. - previous waitress, waiter or banquet server experience preferred
- demonstrate a high caliber of professionalism and presentation commensurate with the expectations of a private club setting
- demonstrated organization and coordination skills
- ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

- excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- must be able to stand, walk, squat, reach, bend, climb, clean, walk on rough ground and lift up to 20 pounds
- ability to handle hot and cold interior and exterior conditions and exposure to dust, fumes and gases

Job Qualifications
- Previous waitress, waiter or banquet server experience preferred

Job Duties
- Greet members and guests in a friendly and professional manner
- provide table, grab & go, and bar service during all meal and beverage periods
- accurately take food and beverage orders, input them into JONAS, and ensure timely delivery
- prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with club standards and Virginia ABC regulations
- anticipate members’ needs and offer recommendations based on menu and seasonal offerings
- ensure all orders are presented promptly, accurately, and attractively
- monitor member satisfaction and address any concerns or issues promptly and professionally
- maintain a clean, well-stocked, and organized bar area at all times
- follow all recipes and portion standards for mixed drinks and cocktails
- ensure the safe and legal service of alcohol to all members and guests
- maintain inventory control by accurately tracking pours, minimizing waste, and reporting low stock levels
- set up and break down service stations and bar areas according to daily needs
- maintain cleanliness and organization of dining, serving, and bar areas during and after shifts
- follow all sanitation and safety procedures in accordance with health department regulations and club standards
- communicate effectively with kitchen, management, and fellow team members to ensure smooth operations
- attend all meetings and training as scheduled
- support fellow team members during peak periods and help create a positive work environment
- maintain high levels of member satisfaction and positive feedback
- consistently adhere to The Turn’s service standards and appearance guidelines
- demonstrate reliability in attendance, punctuality, and accountability
- exhibit initiative, teamwork, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- contribute to a clean, efficient, and professional work environment
