This role at The J. R. Simplot Company is geared towards individuals who are passionate about agronomy and operational efficiency within agricultural services. The position involves critical operational tasks that ensure the smooth delivery of agronomic services and optimum facility performance. Working under general supervision, employees in this role are responsible for a spectrum of duties including the safe and efficient transportation of agricultural inputs like fertilizers and chemicals to customer locations, strictly adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) safety regulations.

In addition to transportation, the role entails routine and preventive maintenance of machinery and plant infrastructure, helping to maintain peak operational functionality. Attention is required to the accurate blending of both bulk and packaged fertilizer materials, ensuring formulations follow safety protocols and company standards. This role demands mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail, as well as a commitment to operational safety and high service standards.

The position typically requires candidates to have a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) along with at least one year of related agricultural operations or facility experience. The job calls for mechanical skills, a working knowledge of farm equipment and agricultural practices, and the ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently, such as mixing fertilizer blends, loading trucks, and delivering products. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as is the ability to troubleshoot problems and make practical decisions in fast-paced environments.

Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is mandatory, with additional endorsements for hazardous materials, tanker operation, and doubles/triples trailers required or attainable upon hire. Candidates must be physically capable of lifting 50 pounds and willing to work flexible hours including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays during peak agricultural seasons.

Job Requirements

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required
  • Must have or be willing to obtain the following endorsements upon hire: Hazmat endorsement, Tanker endorsement, Doubles/Triples endorsement
  • Must be able to lift minimum 50lbs
  • Must be willing and able to work Ag industry hours as seasonal needs dictate, which may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • One or more years of related experience in agricultural operations, equipment operation, or facility/warehouse work
  • Working knowledge of basic farm equipment, agricultural practices, and local geography (roads, farms, field access points)
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in sequence, such as blending products, loading trucks, and completing deliveries
  • Able to troubleshoot issues and make quick, practical decisions
  • Comfortable with basic math and accurate counting
  • Works well with others and communicates clearly

Job Duties

  • Load and deliver fertilizers and chemicals to customer locations in compliance with safety and transport regulations
  • Operate equipment to accurately blend fertilizer
  • Receive, unload, and organize incoming product shipments
  • maintain accurate warehouse inventory
  • Conduct general maintenance and housekeeping of plant equipment and facilities
  • Support miscellaneous operational needs including special projects, attending company-provided training, and providing cross-functional backup as required
