Job Description
Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI) is a leading transportation company and a vital part of the food industry supply chain operated under the umbrella of Dot Foods. Established in 1991, DTI has grown significantly, now boasting a fleet of over 1,500 trucks. The company prides itself on maintaining this extensive fleet with the support of its own highly trained team of mechanics, ensuring top-notch service and reliability. Dot Transportation has built a reputation for its unwavering commitment to its drivers and staff, fostering a supportive and stable working environment with zero layoffs in its history. DTI continues to enhance its benefits to stay competitive and care for its valued drivers and employees. Located in University Park, Illinois, the company offers various career opportunities for individuals who are passionate about driving and are ready to take their careers on the open road.
As a driver with Dot Transportation, you are not just joining a company but becoming part of a team that values your safety and success. The role is designed for individuals who love the freedom of the open road and prefer a dynamic work environment over a conventional office setting. DTI offers a comprehensive program where you can earn while you learn; trainees earn $800 per week while obtaining their Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Moreover, this program includes tuition assistance and bonus opportunities, making it a promising choice for individuals new to the profession or those looking to upgrade their qualifications.
DTI drivers operate various types of equipment to safely and efficiently transport products, adhering strictly to all legal and regulatory requirements set by the Department of Transportation and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Their responsibilities include loading and unloading dry and temperature-controlled goods for most jobs and managing operational goals such as fuel efficiency, idle time, and speed. Drivers review and understand product load paperwork and packaging descriptions to ensure accuracy and efficiency. They also contribute to continuous improvement by identifying and eliminating waste in all areas of their work.
The company offers flexible schedules including 4x4 and 6x3 rotation options with guaranteed days off, tailored to support work-life balance and accommodate family needs. Drivers at DTI experience a variety of work conditions, including different shifts across weekdays, weekends, days, and nights. Physical activity is a requirement due to the nature of the work, especially for those handling freight, with lifting involved averaging 14 pounds and sometimes reaching up to 60 pounds. The role also entails spending time sitting, walking, or standing during working hours.
Joining Dot Transportation means becoming part of a legacy that values diligence, safety, and mutual respect. The company’s supportive culture and commitment to employee well-being make it an excellent choice for motivated individuals seeking a stable and rewarding trucking career. Whether you are starting your journey to become a licensed driver or are an experienced professional seeking growth, DTI provides the tools, resources, and support necessary to succeed in the transportation industry.
