Drivers working with Core-Mark can expect a competitive salary between $70,000 and $75,000 annually, along with a $7,000 sign-on bonus and compensation opportunities based on route efficiency and volume. The role is a full-time position with a Monday through Friday schedule and dispatch times between 5am and 8am. The job location is at 2085 E. Michigan Ave., Ypsilanti, MI 48198, with the advantage of being home daily.
As a Driver at Core-Mark, this role is pivotal in the timely and safe delivery of food and related products to valued customers. The driver is responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight drive-and-drop routes. Compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies is paramount. The driver performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensures cargo is properly secured, and accurately completes all required documentation related to freight delivery. Communication with customers, vendors, and team members must be professional, timely, and accurate to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. The job duties include loading and unloading products, conducting damage inspections, collecting payments when necessary, and maintaining the cleanliness and operational standards of vehicles and loading areas. Drivers are expected to manage their hours of service logs according to federal and state requirements and participate in a safety culture that prioritizes hazard reporting and compliance. This position demands physical capability to handle freight typically ranging from is between 10 to 35 pounds, occasionally up to 60 to 90 pounds, and the use of equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates. Overall, the driver acts as an essential team member, supporting Core-Mark’s mission to deliver high-quality product distribution while fostering a safe, respectful, and growth-oriented work environment.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- Minimum 6 months tractor-trailer driving experience
- Valid CDL-A license
- Compliance with all state licensing and certification regulations
- Clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
- Successful completion of post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Current or acquirable DOT Health Card
- Ability to hand-lift and operate equipment such as two-wheeler and lift gate
- Ability to handle freight weighing between 10 to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 60 to 90 pounds throughout the shift
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- 6+ months tractor-trailer experience
- Valid CDL-A
- Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and other equipment to move and stack product cases/freight
Job Duties
- Perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Immediately report all safety hazards and inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- Check and complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately
- Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- unload products and transport items into designated customer storage areas
- Perform damage control checks on items and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
- collect money where required
- Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
- ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
- unload all equipment and materials and remove trash from trailers
- Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clean
- Secure all equipment and complete paperwork at the end of the shift
- Perform other related duties as assigned
