Job Description
Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD) is a leading educational institution committed to delivering quality education and support services across the Corpus Christi community in Texas. As one of the prominent public school districts in the region, CCISD focuses not only on academic excellence but also on the efficient operations that support the district's educational environment. The Food Services Department at CCISD plays an essential role in ensuring that all campuses and cafeterias are well-stocked with fresh and nutritious food supplies necessary for daily meal services to students and staff. Operating with a strong emphasis on reliability, safety, and effective communication, this department is integral to maintaining the high standards expected throughout the district.
The Food Service Truck Driver position at CCISD is a full-time role that plays a crucial operational role within the Food Services team. The selected candidate will be entrusted with the responsibility of transporting food and related products across various school sites and the district warehouse. Under the supervision of the warehouse foreman, this professional will be required to execute scheduled deliveries with precision, ensuring that groceries, meats, bakery items, and other foodstuffs arrive safely and on time to their destinations. This role requires not only proficient truck driving skills but also the capability to perform physical tasks such as loading, unloading, and stocking. The position demands strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with office personnel, cafeteria staff, and contract warehouse workers. Additionally, it requires proactive, independent work habits coupled with professionalism and sound judgment that align with district policies and departmental goals.
The Food Service Truck Driver must conduct thorough weekly vehicle pre-trip inspections and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the loading areas and yard. Physical agility is a key requirement, as lifting and carrying items ranging from 1 to over 60 pounds and continuous walking and standing are part of the job's regular duties. The person in this role also needs to be versatile and willing to assist with warehouse duties or cooler/freezer stocking when needed. The position offers a starting wage of $14.36 per hour, with individual salary determination based on experience, alongside a work year of 226 days. CCISD prides itself on fostering a supportive work atmosphere that encourages safety, professionalism, and community involvement within its Food Services Department. This opportunity is ideal for someone who possesses a valid Texas Class C driver’s license, exhibits reliability, and enjoys operating in diverse and dynamic work environments. Upon hire, immediate availability is expected for this critical logistical function that supports the nutritious delivery service to the entire school district.
