Job Description
Core-Mark, a subsidiary of Performance Food Group, stands out as a leading Fortune 150 company known for its extensive and dynamic role in the convenience retail industry. With a remarkable revenue exceeding 23 billion dollars, Core-Mark has established itself as a powerhouse in providing fresh and broad-line product solutions to customers across the United States and Canada. The company has fostered a reputation for empowering its customers, employees, and communities, making it not only an industry leader in food and product distribution but also an employer of choice recognized for its inclusive and supportive work culture. Core-Mark's growth trajectory is fueled by its commitment to excellence in service delivery and a strategic approach that incorporates innovative distribution centers, comprehensive product offerings, effective programs, and tailor-made solutions designed to meet the diverse needs of the convenience retail market.
The company is currently seeking dedicated and skilled Drivers who will play a crucial role in supporting America’s food distribution network. These drivers are integral to the logistics chain, responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently, whether it involves intrastate or interstate deliveries. Working at the location in Ypsilanti, MI, this full-time position operates Monday through Friday with dispatch times between 5am and 8am, ensuring that drivers can enjoy the benefit of being home daily. The role offers competitive compensation with an annual salary ranging from $70,000 to $75,000 plus the opportunity to earn additional income based on route volume and efficiency. Furthermore, drivers are eligible for a $7,000 sign-on bonus, highlighting Core-Mark's commitment to attracting and retaining talented individuals.
The primary responsibility of the Driver involves operating a tractor trailer or straight truck to deliver food and related products to customers, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This includes performing routine safety inspections before and after trips, ensuring that vehicles meet company standards, and maintaining compliance with federal and state safety laws. Drivers will manage direct customer interactions that require professional communication and timely responsiveness to inquiries. They are part of a collaborative team environment, required to perform various duties to support the organizational objectives and uphold Core-Mark’s standards of operational excellence.
Beyond driving, the role entails verifying product orders by performing count checks, loading and unloading goods, handling returned products, completing necessary paperwork accurately, and managing financial transactions such as cash or check collections when required. The driver must ensure all items are secured, trailers are locked properly, and that general housekeeping of the vehicle and loading areas is maintained. The position demands physical capability to handle product cases, which may range in weight, and the ability to operate loading equipment efficiently.
Core-Mark prioritizes the growth and development of its associates through continuous training and internal promotion opportunities. Their culture is rooted in respect, recognition, and inclusivity, offering a safe and encouraging work environment. Benefits include Day 1 health and wellness coverage, employee stock purchase plans, 401K matching, education assistance, and generous paid time off. Core-Mark’s equal employment opportunity policies ensure a diverse and equitable workplace free from discrimination. Aspiring drivers joining Core-Mark are assured not only a competitive remuneration package but also a fulfilling career path shaped by support, development, and community engagement, reinforcing Core-Mark’s position as a leader in the distribution industry.
