Core-Mark is an industry leader in providing fresh and broadline solutions for the convenience retail industry across North America. As a division of Performance Food Group, Core-Mark has earned a reputation for empowering its customers, employees, and communities by offering a comprehensive range of products, programs, and solutions tailored to convenience operators in the U.S. and Canada. The company prides itself on maintaining a safe, inclusive, and rewarding work culture where employees can grow and contribute to essential food distribution needs.
The Route Driver position at Core-Mark is a critical role supporting America’s food distribution system by delivering food and related products safely and efficiently. This full-time transportation job is based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, offering a competitive weekly salary of $1,500. The work schedule is Sunday to Thursday with evening shifts starting at 6:00 PM until the job is finished. Drivers in this role operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks on various routes including intrastate, interstate, shuttle, and overnight deliver routes. They are responsible for ensuring accurate, timely deliveries while adhering to strict Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards.
In this role, drivers perform essential safety inspections of their vehicles before and after trips, report any safety or repair issues promptly, and adhere to all driving and safety protocols. They also communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, enhancing customer satisfaction through effective service. The job requires loading and unloading product cases, verifying shipment accuracy, completing documentation, and securing freight to ensure shipment integrity during transit. Additionally, drivers must maintain clean and organized equipment and trailers, complete hours of service records, and perform other duties to support a smooth delivery operation.
The ideal candidate will have at least one year of commercial driving experience with a valid Class A license and be at least 21 years old. Physical capability to lift and handle product cases weighing between 10 and up to 90 pounds is necessary, along with the ability to use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates. Preferred candidates will have prior experience in foodservice distribution or delivery, familiarity with onboard computer systems such as PeopleNet, handheld scanning devices, and a strong foundation in customer service.
Core-Mark offers its employees growth opportunities, competitive compensation, and benefits from day one, including health and wellness programs, 401K employer matching, employee stock purchase plans, education assistance, paid time off, and more. The company provides a safe and inclusive work environment that emphasizes respect, recognition, and teamwork. Core-Mark and its parent company are committed to equal employment opportunity and provide reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities. This ensures an equitable workplace where diverse talent can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the mission of delivering essential products to partners and customers reliably and responsibly.
