Job Description

Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, is a distinguished leader in the food distribution industry, specifically serving the convenience retail sector. As part of a Fortune 150 company generating over 23 billion dollars in revenue, Core-Mark has established itself as an essential partner to thousands of retailers across the United States and Canada. The company prides itself on delivering fresh and broad-line solutions that empower customers, employees, and communities alike. Its extensive network of distribution centers and dedicated workforce ensures the timely and safe delivery of a wide variety of food and food-related products. Core-Mark’s commitment to an inclusive and respectful workplace, supported by a culture of recognition and rewards, underscores its reputation as a responsible and growth-oriented employer.

The Driver - Supply Chain Management (SCM) position at Core-Mark is a vital role within the company’s logistics operation. These drivers are responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of food and food service products, driving tractor-trailers or straight trucks on routes that may include intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop schedules. This is a full-time opportunity offering competitive pay, with drivers earning up to $70,000 or more annually, plus eligibility for monthly bonuses up to $1,600. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with early morning dispatch times starting between 5:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., highlighting the importance of reliability, punctuality, and professionalism in this role.

Beyond just delivery, drivers are seen as the face of Core-Mark to its customers, tasked with building and maintaining lasting relationships through excellent customer service. Drivers conduct thorough safety checks before and after trips, ensuring vehicles and freight meet Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations as well as company standards. They handle unloading, verification of delivered goods, collection of payments where applicable, and proper paperwork completion. Drivers also perform various operational tasks such as loading and securing freight, maintaining cleanliness in their trucks and loading docks, and documenting hours of service in compliance with federal and state laws.

The position requires a high level of physical activity, including lifting and handling freight weighing between 10 to 90 pounds, often utilizing equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates. It is a physically demanding yet rewarding role that contributes directly to the success of the broader food distribution network. Candidates in this role must hold a valid CDL-A license, be at least 21 years old, and meet all relevant state licensing and certification requirements. Core-Mark emphasizes safety, compliance, and professionalism, offering an environment that values employee health and wellness from day one, robust benefits, and personal as well as career growth opportunities.

This role is not only critical for operational effectiveness but also for sustaining Core-Mark’s esteemed reputation in the industry. The Driver - SCM position aligns with Core-Mark’s mission to deliver quality service while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment, making it an excellent career choice for individuals seeking a stable and impactful job in the logistics and transportation sector.
