The Driver - SCM position is vital in supporting America's food distribution system by ensuring the timely and safe delivery of food and foodservice products. Drivers in this role may earn up to $70,000 or more per year, with eligibility for a monthly bonus reaching up to $1,600. The position operates Monday through Friday with a dispatch time between 5:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. It involves driving tractor-trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive and drop assignments. The drivers are essential representatives of Core-Mark, serving not just as delivery personnel but as the company's face, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with customers. This role demands strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, safety standards, and company policies. Responsibilities include completing safety inspections, handling freight carefully, maintaining accurate delivery records, and ensuring compliance with all legal and company guidelines. Drivers must report any safety hazards, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, deliver orders according to schedules, unload products, verify deliveries, collect payments if necessary, and complete all associated paperwork. The ability to operate equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates is essential, as is the capacity to hand-lift varying weights of freight. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED
  • valid CDL-A license
  • minimum 12 months tractor/trailer driving experience
  • clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • must be 21 years or older
  • pass DOT physical and obtain DOT health card
  • able to perform manual handling of freight weighing up to approximately 90 pounds
  • meet all state licensing and certification requirements as applicable
  • pass road test
  • comply with DOT and company driving regulations

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 12+ months tractor/trailer driving experience
  • valid CDL-A license
  • must be 21+ years of age
  • meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • pass road test
  • attain or have valid current DOT health card or be able to secure new DOT health card
  • able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift, product generally ranges from 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds depending on location

Job Duties

  • perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • report all safety issues and repairs required
  • follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • immediately report all safety hazards
  • inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • check and complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly
  • move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • unload products from trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
  • perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • collect money where required
  • load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
  • ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean as required
  • complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log according to Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • perform other related duties as assigned
