This strong foundation makes Core-Mark a sought-after employer in the transportation and logistics sector.
The Driver role at Core-Mark is pivotal in executing the company’s mission to deliver food and related products efficiently and safely to customers. These drivers handle both intrastate and interstate transport using tractor trailers or straight trucks across local shuttle, overnight, drive-and-drop routes. The position guarantees no weekend work, operating on a Monday through Friday schedule with 4-5 working days each week based on hours of service regulations. Drivers can earn a minimum weekly pay of $1575, highlighting the competitive compensation package associated with the role.
The primary responsibilities include ensuring the safe operation of vehicles in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, conducting thorough safety and vehicle inspections before and after trips, securing freight properly, and managing the accurate documentation involved in freight delivery. The role requires active communication and professional interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers to resolve queries promptly. Drivers are also responsible for loading and unloading products, verifying delivery with customers, handling payments when necessary, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in and around the vehicle and loading dock areas.
In addition to these operational duties, drivers are expected to perform general housekeeping tasks and comply strictly with company policies and federal regulations. The company encourages teamwork and flexibility, with drivers taking on other related duties as assigned to serve company interests effectively. The requirement for physical capability to handle product cases ranging from 10 to 90 pounds using equipment such as lift gates and two-wheelers underscores the physical nature of this role.
The Driver position at Core-Mark offers an excellent opportunity for professionals seeking a stable, rewarding job in a large, reputable company focusing on food distribution. The role’s structure prioritizes safety, compliance, customer service, and operational efficiency, contributing to the company’s strong market position and commitment to its employees' growth and well-being.
