This job opening is for a Transportation role based in Springfield, Missouri, offering a bi-weekly minimum salary of $2600. The role is full-time, with a shift schedule from Monday to Friday, dispatching early in the morning between 3:00 am and 6:00 am. The position is essential to maintaining America’s food supply chain, involving the transportation and delivery of food and food-related products to various customers in a safe, timely, and professional manner.

The primary responsibilities of the Driver - Supply Chain Management include operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes, including over-the-road trips, shuttle runs, and overnight deliveries. The driver will ensure that freight is handled carefully, meets safety guidelines, and is securely loaded and unloaded per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. In addition to driving duties, the role requires interaction with customers and vendors, where the driver acts as the face of Core-Mark, building lasting relationships through professional communication and exemplary service.

Drivers must perform safety inspections before and after trips, report maintenance needs, and adhere strictly to DOT rules and company policies. They are responsible for verifying the accuracy of freight loads against customer invoices, completing all necessary paperwork legibly, and ensuring that tractor, trailer, and freight are secured properly during transit. The role also involves managing delivery records, including hours of service logs, and maintaining general housekeeping of the vehicle and docking areas.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 12 months commercial tractor/trailer driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements
  • Clean motor vehicle report for the last 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and road test
  • Hold or able to secure DOT health card
  • Able to lift and move freight using equipment such as two-wheelers or lift gates

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • 12+ months commercial tractor/trailer experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT health card or be able to secure new DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights
  • Preferred 1+ years foodservice distribution or delivery and/or relevant experience
  • Onboard computer and electronic log system experience such as PeopleNet
  • Hand-held point of delivery scanning system experience such as POD
  • Customer service-related work experience

Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
  • Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required following DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines
  • Immediately reports all safety hazards and inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products loaded
  • Checks and completes all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
  • Moves tractor to loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unloads products from trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • Verifies delivery of items with customers and obtains proper signatures, collects money where required
  • Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns, completes necessary paperwork
  • Completes daily record of hours of service in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
