Job Description
Core-Mark, a division of Performance Food Group, stands as a recognized leader within the distribution industry, ranking within the Fortune 150 companies. This company has exhibited consistent growth by providing innovative fresh and broad-line solutions to the convenience retail industry. Boasting over $23 billion in revenue, Core-Mark has established an extensive network of distribution centers throughout the United States and Canada. This allows the company to offer a comprehensive suite of products, programs, and solutions tailored to meet the needs of convenience retail customers. Core-Mark’s commitment to empowering customers, employees, and the communities in which they operate is a testament to its reputation as a premier employer and service provider in the sector.
The Driver - SCM position at Core-Mark plays a vital role in the company’s logistics and supply chain operations. This role is focused on the safe and timely delivery of food and food-related products using tractor-trailers or straight trucks. The position supports various delivery models including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive-and-drop routes, primarily serving customers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and surrounding areas. Drivers in this role can expect a competitive minimum weekly pay of $1,250 and have the potential to earn upwards of $65,000 annually. The employment offers regular home return each night, local routes, weekends off, and a defined work schedule covering Monday through Friday with a morning dispatch between 3:00 am and 6:00 am.
Beyond the operational logistics, this role requires adherence to strict Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies. Drivers are responsible for conducting thorough safety checks pre- and post-trip on trucks and trailers, verifying freight loads for security and accuracy, and managing all necessary documentation related to freight and deliveries. The position also demands professional interaction with customers, vendors, and colleagues to ensure service quality and issue resolution. Given the essential nature of goods transported, drivers must demonstrate reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic while working within a team-oriented environment.
Core-Mark promotes a workplace characterized by safety, inclusiveness, respect, and recognition. Employees benefit from a culture that rewards high performance and fosters personal and career growth. In addition to the financial compensation, the company offers day one health and wellness benefits, 401K employer matching, employee stock purchase plans, education assistance, paid time off, and more. This role suits individuals who value a steady work-life balance, take pride in professional driving careers, and are seeking growth opportunities within a supportive, large-scale company framework. Core-Mark’s position as an industry leader combined with these employee-centric policies makes their Driver - SCM role a compelling opportunity for qualified CDL-A drivers seeking meaningful and stable employment.
