This job opportunity is for full-time Local Class A CDL Truck Drivers based in Amarillo, TX. The role offers a competitive annual salary of approximately $73,500, complemented by a $5,000 retention bonus and a driver referral bonus program that can provide up to $5,000 per referral. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, with a dispatch time at 8:00 PM, enabling drivers to be home daily. This consistency supports work-life balance and ensures predictable routines for drivers.

As a Class A CDL Truck Driver at Penske Logistics, you will be responsible for operating late-model, Penske-maintained trucks equipped with best-in-class specifications designed for comfort and safety. The primary route involves doubles linehaul operations out of Amarillo, TX, requiring specialized endorsements and experience. This role demands a high level of professionalism, safety consciousness, and customer service skills, as drivers represent not only Penske but also its clients and their branded equipment.

Job Requirements

  • Doubles endorsement and experience required
  • regular, predictable, full attendance essential
  • work at specific location required

  • submit to background investigation and drug screening
  • ability to operate motor vehicle and safely enter/exit vehicle and cargo area
  • physical ability to lift up to 50lbs regularly and occasionally up to 100lbs
  • ability to see and hear with specific vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception and focus adjustment
  • compliance with federal law 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)
  • acceptance of responsibility for personal and others safety

Job Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL required
  • domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in state of residence
  • currently hold or ability to obtain a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card
  • minimum 1 year documented tractor-trailer experience in last 3 years or 2 years in last 5 years
  • 3 years clean DMV/MVR record with two or fewer moving violations or accidents
  • ability to follow federal and state laws and agency guidelines
  • English language proficiency
  • ability to work required schedule and location
  • pass background check and drug screening
  • ability to work in a safe and alert manner consistently

Job Duties

  • Drive doubles linehaul route out of Amarillo, TX
  • operate late-model, Penske-maintained trucks
  • ensure compliance with all federal and state safety regulations
  • maintain daily communication with dispatch and management
  • provide excellent customer service representing Penske and its clients
  • complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • adhere to company safety and operational policies
