Job Description

Kayem Foods is a distinguished family-owned and operated craft meat business based in Chelsea, Massachusetts, with an impressive history that spans over a century. Founded in 1909 by Kaz Monkiewicz, Kayem has grown to become the largest meat processor in New England. The company specializes in producing high-quality franks, sausages, and prepared meats that are beloved throughout the region. Kayem Foods remains deeply committed to its "Old World" food philosophy, which emphasizes creating products that the founders would proudly share with their own friends and family. Despite its growth, Kayem continues to focus on craftsmanship, innovative recipe tweaking, and exploring new and exciting culinary collaborations, such as the partnership producing Kayem's Night Shift Brewing Small Batch Beer Brats.

This commitment to quality, tradition, and innovation has established Kayem Foods as a reputable and reliable name in the meat processing industry. The company nurtures a supportive and flexible work environment that encourages professional growth and values employee contributions. Kayem Foods offers competitive wages and comprehensive benefits to full-time employees, making it not only a great place to work but also a company that takes care of its people.

The CDL Class A Driver role at Kayem Foods is essential to maintaining the company's reputation for excellent customer service and timely product delivery. This position involves the daily operation of a commercial vehicle to deliver refrigerated products to various customer locations. Assigned drivers will navigate predetermined routes ensuring that all deliveries are made efficiently, safely, and on schedule. Additionally, the role includes regular pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring that safety standards are met and any discrepancies are promptly documented and reported.

Drivers must manage the transportation of products carefully, including handling returns such as rejected or unsold merchandise according to company policies. Responsibilities also extend to maintaining the cleanliness of the truck, both inside the cab and the cargo area, and performing routine vehicle maintenance checks to ensure operational integrity. Drivers must comply with all Kayem and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and safety.

Employee communication is a critical part of this position. CDL Class A Drivers are expected to listen to customer service complaints attentively, document these issues, and report them to supervisors for resolution. Proof of delivery or pickup is verified through customer signatures, supporting accurate record-keeping and accountability.

Kayem Foods seeks dedicated professionals who are flexible with working hours, capable of lifting up to 75 pounds if needed, and possess strong communication and navigational skills. The company values drivers who maintain clean driving records and demonstrate dependability and attention to detail. Kayem Foods offers a base pay range of $32.00 to $34.50 per hour, reflecting the candidate's qualifications, experience, and performance. The pay range is subject to regular review to support wage growth based on merit and internal equity.

Overall, this opportunity with Kayem Foods is perfect for individuals seeking a stable, well-paying position within a respected company that values quality, tradition, and employee well-being. The role offers comprehensive benefits, including healthcare, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) retirement plans with employer matching, paid time off, education reimbursement, and wellness programs. Kayem Foods promotes a positive and collaborative work culture where employees can thrive and make a meaningful impact every day.
